Tan Sri Dato Dr. Michael Yeoh

Chairman

Michael Yeoh is the co-Founder, Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (ASLI) for the past 24 years.

ASLI is globally ranked by the University of Pennsylvania in a global study of think tanks as one of the top Think Tanks in the Asia Pacific region. He has also served as Malaysia’s representative with Ambassadorial status to the ASEAN High Level Task Force on ASEAN Connectivity. He has also served as a Commissioner in the Malaysia Competition Commission, the Human Rights Commission and was appointed as an Advisory Board of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. He is also the founding Chairman of the World Chinese Economic Summit and the ASEAN Leadership Forum.

Tan Sri Dato Dr. Yeoh has over 40 years of board room, corporate and management experience serving on Boards of public listed companies involved in Property Development, Investment Holdings and Food Manufacturing.

 

Previously he had been a Principal Adviser to a Bank and had served on Boardsof Companies involved in Financial Services, Education and Health Care. Hehas authored several books and spoken at many international conferences. He is also a Fellow of the U.K. Institute of Directors, the Malaysian Institute of Management and a Member of the UK Institute of Strategic Studies. He is also Secretary-General of the Malaysia-Japan Economic Association (MAJECA), Director of the Malaysia-China Business Council and Deputy President of the Association for Promotion of Human Rights.

 

Tan Sri Dato Dr. Yeoh graduated in Economics from Monash University and has attended the Aresty Institute of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and was conferred a Doctorate in Law (honoris causa) from the University of Nottingham.

Raja Mazhar Mohar Bin Raja Tun Mohar

President

Raja Mazhar was previously with PETRONAS for 29 years before leaving the Fortune 500 company in November 2016.

He first joined PETRONAS as an operations executive for white products, International Marketing Division.  In 1990, he moved on to be senior planner in the Senior Vice President (Downstream)’s Office and then with Refining & Marketing Planning Unit.  He was also a team member of the corporate strategic study team which was facilitated by Boston Consulting Group in 1996.  He was also extensively involved in the formation of PETRONAS sour refinery Joint Venture project in Melaka from the commercial aspect and led some of the Letter of Intent and contract negotiations with the Joint Venture partners.

 

Currently, Raja Mazhar is doing consultancy in the cards/digital payment space, loyalty marketing,  customer experience and branding.

 

Mazhar did his education in University of Durham, England with honours in economics.  He was elected chairman for senior men and women’s council comprising of presidents from all colleges in the university.  He was also elected as Student President of Hild & Bede College while in Durham University, the first and only time a foreign student was elected to the position.  His disciplined nature comes from his training as a boy scout, college prefect and a sergeant in the cadet corps in his early schooling years in Malaysia as well as boarding schools in the UK.

Dr. Hasnah Ismail

Executive Director

Dr. Hasnah, an independent member of Might-Meteor’s Board is currently actively pursuing the implementation of a high impact sustainable Project in Malaysia and overseas.

She leads the project conceptualization and development of this strategic high- technology programs with the aim of realizing ‘Science into Action’ for the common shared benefits of the self-powered community.  Her areas of expertise includes developing strategic capacity-building Programs (with high impact technology) leading such Projects from inception to ensure successful implementation working with various key stakeholders focusing on Organization Alignment Strategy and Transformation.

 

Dr. Hasnah holds several professional positions such as Fellow of The Oxford Centre for Leadership, UK., Coach Facilitator –  In Coaching, S.Korea, Executive Council Member – Alliance Peace Corps Foundation and Director of Human Capital Development – Foundation of Women’s Voice, YASNITA (Yayasan Suara Wanita), advocating on Poverty Management through entrepreneurial talent and skills development.

 

In total, Hasnah brings to the role more than 28 years experience in strategic human capital management, Leadership & Talent development, Coaching sessions across all levels of employees, and planning and executing organization change management to achieve a high-performance culture orientation.

In recognition of her vast contribution to the HR community, she was awarded ‘The HR Excellence Award (2010)’ by the Deputy President Of Indonesia, Yusoff Kalla for her dedication and commitment delivering innovative HR solutions to the community.  She is a frequent Speaker at various forums, locally and abroad to share her experiences and strategic HR practices on Human Capital management and Change Management/ Transformation initiatives.

Dr. Hasnah holds a degree in Business Administration from Western Michigan University and proceeded to do post-graduate work at the University of Dayton in Ohio, where she completed courses in organization behavior, finance, marketing and management accounting. Her extensive work experience involving human capital and talent development earned her an industry DBA award from The European-American University, Europe.

Christopher Tock

Council Member

Christopher Tock is the Founder and CEO of SocialGrooves.com, a boutique digital agency with a flair for empowering movements online via socially and commercially driven goals.

He is also the co-founder of EYEProject.my, a social enterprise that has reduced youth unemployment in Malaysia via sustainable leadership training. Both award-winning bodies has generated socioeconomic impact with the assistance of the government, public and private sectors.

 

He has also help founded several grassroot NGOs including the Global Shapers Community KL hub under WEF, Young Corporate Malaysians & the Kuala Lumpur Venture Club among others. Most recently, he has been appointed as Council member at the Iclif Leadership Energy Awards Advisory Council chaired by Tan Sri Dr Zeti herself.

 

Christopher is now often found speaking at local and international conferences in the topic of social entrepreneurship and all things digital, consulting and managing brands ranging from Fortune 500 companies to sports personalities such as World no 1 badminton player Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei. He spends his time working with youths with the mission to unlock their talents, while discussing the 4th Industrial Revolution on social media channels as @spinzer.

Kendrick Ng

Council Member

Kendrick is a designpreneur with interests in businesses related to the information and communication through creativity in arts.

He is also the Founder, CEO and artist of Kendy Life Creative, with the aim to create the right and creative content for clients.

A graduate in B.sc (Hons) Computing in Database Management and B.A Multimedia major in Digital Media. Kendrick is a proud ambassador of Tourism Sabah, a member of Doodle Malaysia Group and a resident artist for North Borneo Historical Society.

 

He joined Social Grooves in 2016 where he was responsible for creative concept development and business planning. Kendrick was appointed Chief Business Development Officer of Social Groove Solutions Sdn Bhd on 2017.

Nuraizah Shamsul Baharin

Council Member

Nuraizah is a technoprenuer and the Managing Director of Madcat World,a mobile application and content development company.

In 2006, she started her first venture, CWorks Mobile Sdn Bhd and built the company to 17 times net book value of the initial capital. She began her career as a Product Engineer at Motorola Malaysia and during her tenure, she received two technical excellence awards and three productivity excellence awards. She then joined Sapura Nokia Software in2000 and started diversifying her technical skills by going into business development before starting up CWorks Mobile and Madcat World.

 

In 2011, she won the Great Women of Our Times Awards for Science and Technology by Malaysian Women’s Weekly and in December 2013, she won NEF-Awani ICT Awards 2013 for Best Woman Technopreneur.

 

Nuraizah has also been actively involved in various non-profit organizations dealing with entrepreneurship and technologies in Malaysia and within the Southeast Asia region. She was the president of WENA (Association of Bumiputra Women Entrepreneur Network of Malaysia) from 2012-2014 and founding member of AWEN (ASEAN Women Entrepreneur Network.)

In August 2015, she was appointed by Malaysia’s Prime Minister as the Council Member of the Women’s Advisory and Consultative Council (MPPW).

 

On the ASEAN level, she was appointed in Aug 2015 as the Regional Ambassador for Technovation (www.technovationchallenge.org), a U.S. based mobile application development program for girls aged 10-18.

 

Nuraizah holds an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA.

Saad Mohib

Council Member

Mr. Saad Mohib is a leader in New and Innovative technology development, his experience in developing new technology trends is commendable.

He has led large-scale organizations to full automation and significantly contributed to drive core business value. He is a fellow of Harvard Leadership Excellence Group, has an MBA from Nottingham Trent University, Executive Education from London Business School as well as affiliated with various global professional bodies. Saad’s commercial strategy expertise is also known through his various achievements, his skills in developing core value proposition for Innovators, Users and enablers are highly sought after, and gives him an opportunity to be in a leadership role in various initiatives locally and abroad. He is an Australian Citizen and a senior member of Malaysia Australia Business Council. 

 

His experience comes from varied market, he has worked in senior positions in Australia, South East Asia and Middle East. Currently he is Executive Vice President of Digital Platforms and Strategy at BTI, a premier tech Innovation Company. He is presently on the advisory panel for various organizations in Phillipines, Indonesia, Myanmar and India.

Amanda Chong

Council Member

Amanda Chong, is a result-driven marketing, branding and communications specialist with over 16 years of international and regional experience.

She has acquired a wide range of expertise and experience managing a diverse range of leading brand names in the world, focusing in the hospitality, tourism, F&B, attractions, lifestyle and entertainment industries.

 

Amanda has worked for international leading brands such as Tourism Australia, Atlantis The Palm Dubai, Tune Hotels, Sunway Lagoon, Berjaya and Themed Attractions, Hotels & Resorts (part of the Khazanah group). She has been involved in major pre-openings and rebranding campaigns for international hotel brands, an integrated retail development and attractions.

 

Amanda possess a vast experience in the landscape of marketing, including, advertising and promotions, digital and traditional marketing, marketing partnerships, media relations, public relations, sponsorships, event management, social media and Corporate Social Responsibility programmes/campaigns. She is also a panel speaker for the tourism and hospitality industry discussion forums.

 

Catherine Yong

Council Member

Catherine Yong also known as Cat Yong, is the Editor-in-Chief of a business technology website in Malaysia.

With over 15 years in journalism, reporting about global consumer technology brands, she has moved on to reporting about some of the biggest Brands in enterprise technology that are responsible for shifting and shaping industry trends as we know them today – Google, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, SAP and many more.

 

Keen to find out what makes trends and behaviours tick, she has applied this inquisitiveness to businesses, building and honing and applying her knowledge and experience to develop business for her enterprise technology website.

More significantly, this curiousity comes into play when interviewing business and technology leaders about their respective areas of focus and expertise and industry.

Cat Yong is a firm believer in the power of Mind Awareness and meditates whenever she can, to achieve this.

 

Mahendran

Council Member

Mahendran is a loyalty and business automation expert specializing in customer, channel partner and employee loyalty and reward solutions

For the past 10 years, he has worked closely with clients from various industries ranging from financial and banking sector, FMCG companies, auto industry, retail industry, telecommunication companies and F&B companies in strengthening their market share and also market position through rewarding and earning long term loyalty of their stake holders.

 

Realizing that there is a big gap between the big corporations and local businesses in embracing digital technology in their daily business operations, he co-founded VNiaga, a Malaysian startup with a mission of empowering SMEs with cost effective digital solutions so they not only can survive but thrive in today’s digital economy.

Mahendran started his career as a petrochemical trader with Malaysian International Trading Corporation (MITCO), a wholly owned subsidiary of Petronas where he gained immense knowledge in international business, contract negotiation, risk management, shipping, operation and financial management.
